Aluminum vs. Steel vs. Rattan for Patio Furniture

One seating set in this range uses an all-aluminum frame; the rest use steel, sometimes wrapped in hand-woven PE resin rattan. Amopatio's own feature text states both as rust- and corrosion-resistant - the real difference is weight and look, not one material being unprotected.

Aluminum: the lighter frame

The 5-piece sectional set with 5 in olefin cushions is the only product in this range on an all-aluminum frame - the manufacturer's own feature text describes it as rust-proof, corrosion-resistant and naturally lightweight, easier to rearrange than a steel piece of the same size, with a powder-coated finish stated to resist fading and peeling.

Steel: the rest of the range

Every other seating set and all four standalone chairs use a steel frame, powder-coated per each listing's own feature text to resist rust and corrosion. Steel is heavier than aluminum, which the two swivel-rocker chair listings connect to their own stability claim - a "heavy-duty round swivel base" rated to 400 lb per chair.

PE resin rattan: a woven layer, not the frame

Two of the three seating sets - the 7-piece navy sectional and the 7-piece set with a fire pit table - wrap their steel frame in hand-woven PE resin rattan, described by their own feature text as UV-resistant and waterproof, standing up to "sun, rain and snow without cracking or fading." It's a woven exterior layer over the structural steel, not a separate frame material.

What this site can and can't confirm

Every claim above is the manufacturer's own feature text, not an independent material test by this site. None of the three materials is shown as objectively "better" here - the aluminum set is lighter, the steel pieces are heavier and, per their own swivel-base claims, built for more motion, and the rattan-wrapped sets add a woven look over steel. See each product's own specifications page for which material it uses.

Questions

Is aluminum patio furniture worse in the rain than steel?

Not per the manufacturers' own claims - both the aluminum set and the steel-framed pieces in this range are described as rust- or corrosion-resistant with a protective finish. This site has not independently tested either.

Which Amopatio products use PE rattan?

Two of the three seating sets - the 7-piece navy sectional and the 7-piece set with a fire pit table - wrap a steel frame in hand-woven PE resin rattan, per their own feature text. The other seating set and all four chairs don't.

Is the aluminum set sturdier or less sturdy than the steel sets?

Not stated in a way this site can compare directly - the aluminum set's own feature text emphasizes being lightweight and easy to rearrange; the steel pieces' own text emphasizes weight-capacity figures instead. Different claims, not directly comparable numbers.
